PERCEPTION

Perception is different individual views of the same reality; in other words, it is a person’s point of view: this passes for a person’s viewpoint, being that knowledge can be fetched by one from the same well as others, but the information is then called out for application based on individual measure of understanding—accepted level of importance; this is asides from the fact—generally accepted essence of the particular subject. Perception is the bank in the mind where known information are stored; moreover, it is that place in the mind where memory is lodged, and needed known facts or objectives are from, retrieved.

It is to this fact that the painter, architect, inventor, and student of all things scientific—“the renaissance man” personified, once said: “All our knowledge has its origins in our perceptions.”1 Perception is susceptible to change, which however, depends on the subjective wave of the existing knowledge per time. Writing requires depth to be impressive; howbeit, depth is relative to a writer’s degree of insight on a chosen matter: it is wontedly expected that the writer will employ personal examples perhaps from experience to back his or her points of view. For instance, what do you make of this image in this paragraph? Your guesses are as good as mine. Without in-depth knowledge, a writer’s piece will lack power. Depth comes from writing from a unique perception and with passion, the things that are known.

You must dare to know; thus, urged to make profound researches in order to write about a subject matter, convincingly. Acquired knowledge builds confidence, which makes a matter that is put forth within a given premise, believable: write what you know therefore, if you must…. Be yourself! Boldness is contagious, and writers can transmit that alongside other good values to their readers. Done well, unlearning and consequent, converse relearning transpires: the primary aim of writing, in the first place. A writer, who enjoys a certain genre of writing, will usually have confidence to write in that genre; more so, what excites the writer will excite the reader, if the right words are used.

See Possibilities.

I once was afraid of any body of water—river, lake, stream, even pool…. Then, I registered for swim training. First, I learnt how to get to the water surface from the deep to take some oxygen per time; second, I learnt that ‘my major business is to stay afloat’—I had no dealing with sinking; third, was the teaching of ‘how to move from point A to B.’ Today, I can swim! The excitement of my first jumped hurdle—floating, became the motivation that set me in overdrive; I carried on with inflated curiousness till I knew how to swim. Like swimming, my writing took similar turns … and I am here today, sharing for your garner, the ability that I have over the years gathered. All you need to do is jump the hurdles set in front of you, and start passionately: let the excitement of the initial knowledge, which you already have to relay, whet your curiosity to know more. That is what builds confidence base. Curiosity—“hunger to know,” expands imagination, which its constant use empowers creativity to be well structured. Creativity in tangent to writing thrives into boundless places when the distinctive view of the writer, finds decisive expressions through written words.

Dare to See Positively—Be Optimistic.

In order to learn how-to swim and write effectively, the first bucketload of information I poured into, and fetched out from my perception was the assurance that ‘I can make it if I tried,’ and then I went ahead ‘to try’: today I live above average expressing myself joyously with both acts. Manoeuvring the writing art will soon be a pie in the sky for you too, should you take the time to fill your perceptive well with the supposed data needed to enable you attain the purported height pertaining to right writing—having creativity to draw when the writing need arises. This is easy, but depending on how things are seen by you.

How Do You See It?

Yes! It is easy, depending however, on how you view things: How would you rather see a glass of liquid filled midway? Is it half empty, or half full? Either ways, you are right. Though there are other ways to seeing the same thing as depicted in our illustration; albeit, those options do not make the objectives herein given: Positivism in the latter answer of the two given options is motivation, sufficient enough to start and finish any writing project. Ply that.
